On CFM recently, I spoke with local Coromandel Photographer, Hakan Nedjat about his Astrophotography. I originally discovered Hakan’s work on the Whiti ChitChat facebook group in early 2019. Upon looking into his work, I discovered Hakan is a Sony Digital Imaging Advocate – shooting with the Sony A7 series of cameras, which I was introduced to a few years ago by Cinematographer – Dr Daniel Maddock, endorsing its extraordinary low light ability. As an administrator in my day job, and a voice actor in the other part of my professional life; the opportunities to get back to my old days of radio imaging production have been fairly rare. So whilst taking a couple of days leave, I was inspired to give a little freshen up to some Request promos. Apparently, I’m not too bad at it after all this time.
During the Covid-19 lockdown April 2020, I was asked to work on a series of radio promotional spots, pushing local. There were a number of scripts in the series, some got to air, some didn’t. 400 mil MYLK (nut/rice/coconut milk blend – quite creamy)
method: blend/grind cashews as fine as possible – set aside. add coconut oil, vanilla, maple syrup, mesquite and some MYLK, start blending gently. continue to add MYLK and blending until all liquid has been added. blend until smooth. pour into silicon form.
alternative: when making Mango version: a cup of mango and 300 mil MYLK. ie: reduce liquid to match fruit/flavour addition.

Following 50th birthday celebrations, I was fortunate enough to spend a few weeks working on air for Coromandel’s CFM. This was a wonderful opportunity to make some new stories and share them. My dear friend, Alan Hopping – is a passionate man who cares about our future, and who is going to be leading New Zealand in the future. Alan’s passion is infectious, hence my compulsion to share the story of the Ambassador Leadership Foundation. Alan Hopping is the creator and founder of The Lost Spring, Whitianga… one of my favourite places in the world.
The story of The Lost Spring and Alan’s relentless pursuit of his dream of re-discovering the once-lost water source is a history that we cherish. Our heritage is woven into the fabric of The Lost Spring and makes it all the more rewarding for us to share this magical place with visitors. Alan now runs The Lost Spring alongside his daughter, Alanna, who grew up in Whitianga.

John & Lynda invited me to discover Whitianga, New Zealand for my first time… and to fill in for Casey (Production & Onair) while she went on holidays. I was also tasked with setting up some Production processes and mentoring Casey in her role of Commercial Producer. I arranged for two weeks leave from the day job; flying out of Toowoomba via Syndey to Auckland, Thursday June 6, 2019 – returning Wednesday 19 June.
